I’m Michael Bergin. I teach computers to design homes and write about it here. This is a living archive of essays and notes—some new, some migrated and backdated from elsewhere.
I co-founded Higharc to bring frontier technology to homebuilding. As Chief R&D Officer, I lead a team that creates methods to advance the design, engineering, and construction of homes.
Before Higharc, I led the Generative Design Research group at Autodesk Research, where I brought to market AI products to design and engineer high-performance components for the automotive and aerospace industries.
I hold a Master of Architecture from UC Berkeley, where I focused on generative design for the customization of single-family homes.
